If you're an avid hiker, or simply love the outdoors, the W Trek in Patagonia should be high on your travel bucket list. This multi-day hike takes you through some of the most stunning scenery in the world, including snow-capped mountains, beautiful lakes, and vast glaciers. The W Trek is an unforgettable journey through the heart of Torres del Paine National Park.

What is the W Trek in Patagonia?
The W Trek is one of the most iconic multi-day hikes in the world, winding through the stunning landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia.
The route gets its name from the shape it forms on the map, resembling a 'W', as it snakes through three main valleys: Valle Ascencio, Valle del Francés, and Valle del Glaciar Grey.
Covering around 70-80 kilometers (43-50 miles), the W Trek typically takes 4-5 days to complete.
Along the way, you'll experience a mix of towering granite peaks, lakes, glaciers, and some of the most jaw-dropping scenery in South America.
How to get to Torres del Paine National Park?
The starting point for the W Trek is usually Puerto Natales, a small town about 2-3 hours away from the park. To reach Puerto Natales, most travellers fly into Punta Arenas Airport (PUQ) from Santiago, Chile. From there, buses run regularly to Puerto Natales.
Once in Puerto Natales, you'll need to take a bus to the Laguna Amarga entrance or Pudeto depending on your chosen starting point.
