Best Summer Destinations to Visit This Winter

With the warm weather behind us, we longingly wait for summer to come back around to enjoy the scorching hot sun and tanning on the beach type of holidays. But look no further, we have put together the top places to visit for some winter sun!

Cape Verde

When to go: November-March

Average winter temperature: 26°C

Cape Verde is an ideal location for some winter sun, with temperatures rising to 26 degrees the destination offers seven beautiful islands to choose from, each boasting beaches, adventure and culture. With clear blue skies during our winter season, Cape Verde is at its peak between November to March – a perfect time to indulge in water sports whilst the rest of the UK is wrapped up on the sofa.

Island hopping is one the best ways to spend a trip in Cape Verde’s winter sun – hiking on Santo Antão or experiencing Mindelo's famous Carnival on São Vicente, where visitors are set to enjoy a day of rhythmic beasts and delicious street food.

Canary Islands

When to go: All year-round

Average winter temperature: 22°C

Offering year-round average temperatures of 23 degrees, the Canary Islands including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, provide a perfect place for some winter sun. The landscapes and towns are much more bearable to visit whilst it’s a little cooler – but still warm enough in the winter months.

With an abundance of islands to choose from – visitors can indulge in the picturesque beaches of Gran Canaria, visit the bustling city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife or climb the highest Spanish peak of Mount Teide.

Mexico

When to go: December-April

Average winter temperature: 25°C

Known for its dry season, Mexico is best during the winter months of December-February where there isn’t much rain and the temperature is still warm enough. The average heat can rise up to 25 degrees and with not a cloud in sight, locations such as Mexico City, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Pacific Coast and Yucatan Peninsula are great places to add to your winter destination list.

From jungle hikes to historical sites to swimming in nature’s cenotes, Mexico has endless opportunities to escape for some winter sun.

Thailand

When to go: November-April

Average winter temperature: 33°C

As the capital of Thailand, Bangkok is the best place to visit between December to February to experience its Thai culture and shopping malls. With temples and pagoda complexes, Bangkok as a winter destination means enjoying the country at its finest without the worry of missing any sun at home – being classed as a great trip.

Even though it can be quite busy in the winter months, Thailand is host to a blend of diverse experiences. Across the country – there is something for all. Chiang Mai provides a cultural delight with bustling night markets, ancient temples and places like Phuket and Krabi boast stunning beaches, water activities, and vibrant nightlife.

Egypt

When to go: October- April

Average winter temperature: 28°C

Exploring the streets of Cairo, visiting the pyramids and tombs, Egypt is at its best from October to April with temperatures at a steady 28 degrees. The cooler weather makes it more enjoyable to enjoy the tourism destinations and a great escape away from th rainy weather at home!

Along with its charming landmarks, Egypt’s idyllic beaches are not to be missed. Naama bay is true highlight with its range of cafes and restaurants, the bay is a glistering tourist hub too!
